Your icon and banner
Copy page
The two pictures your app has in Lia's Apps Center, their sizes and safe areas, and prompts you can paste into an image generator to make them.
Your app has two pictures in Lia's Apps Center:
| Picture | Where it shows | Make it | Format |
|---|---|---|---|
| Icon | Every list of apps, invite cards in chat, your app's header | 1024 × 1024, square | PNG or JPG, best kept under 500 KB |
| Banner | The featured slider at the top of the Apps Center | 1500 × 500 (3:1) | JPG or PNG, best kept under 800 KB |
Both are https addresses the Lia team sets for your app (see What the Lia team sets up). Send them the pictures, or links to them, and ask them to change them whenever you have new ones. Without a banner, your featured card shows your icon on Lia's own colour; without an icon, it shows your category's.
#What Lia does with them
- The icon is shown with rounded corners (about 23% of its size), from 30 to 88 points across. Lia rounds it for you: send a full square, with no corners, border or shadow of your own. Keep the subject inside the middle 80%, and make it read at 30 points: one bold shape beats a detailed scene.
- The banner fills the featured card, cropped to cover it (about 3:1, a little wider on big phones). Lia lays a dark shade over its left half and writes your app's name, tagline and "Featured" there in white. So:
- keep the left half calm and dark, with nothing important in it;
- put your subject in the right third;
- leave a margin of 40 px at the top and bottom, which may be cropped.

#Prompts for an image generator
These work with most image generators (Midjourney, DALL·E, Imagen, Firefly, Ideogram, Stable Diffusion). Replace what's in [brackets], generate a few, and pick the one that still reads when it's small. Then resize to the exact size above.
#Banner
Wide 3:1 banner, 1500×500, for a mobile app called [NAME] ([one line: what you do in it]).
Bold, clean, modern 3D illustration style, soft studio light, no drop shadows.
Main subject on the right third, large and close up: [THE SUBJECT].
The left half is a calm, dark, nearly empty gradient for white title text to sit on.
Palette: deep navy (#0E1330) into [YOUR MAIN COLOUR], with one warm accent ([ACCENT COLOUR]).
No text, no letters, no logos, no user interface, no people's faces.#Icon
Square app icon, 1024×1024, for a mobile app called [NAME].
One bold, simple subject, centred, filling about 70% of the frame: [THE SUBJECT].
Flat [YOUR MAIN COLOUR] background, glossy 3D style, soft light, no drop shadow.
Readable at a tiny size. No text, no letters, no border, no rounded corners. Not sure about colours? Lia's own are Lia blue #2F5BFF, deep navy #0E1330 and gold #F5B82E, and pictures in them sit well in the Apps Center. Your own brand colours are just as welcome.
#Examples
Lia's own games, made from the prompts above. Use them as a pattern for your subject line.
| App | [THE SUBJECT] |
|---|---|
| A tic-tac-toe game | three glossy 3D marks in a row (a blue X, a gold O, a blue X) on a floating 3×3 grid, slightly tilted |
| A chess game | a glossy blue knight and a pearl-white king on a few squares of a navy and periwinkle board, low angle |
| Ayo (Oware), the seed-sowing game | a carved wooden board with two rows of six pits, a curve of seeds being sown, warm wood against cool blue light, a subtle Yoruba-inspired pattern |
| An endless runner you steer by tilting | a glowing gold coin rolling fast down a neon blue track between walls, sparks trailing, motion blur |
| A quiz | a big glossy question mark made of light, with a few cards fanned out behind it |
| A shop or utility | the one object it's about (a phone with a signal wave, a shopping bag), large and glossy |
For the icon, use the same subject alone: the X and O, the knight, the coin. Icons with a whole scene in them turn to mush at 30 points.
#Check before you send them
- The icon still reads at the size of a fingernail (look at it from across the room).
- The banner's left half is dark enough for white text, and the subject is on the right.
- No words, logos, prices or buttons in either.
- No real people, brands or characters you don't have the rights to. Pictures follow the same rules as your app.
- The right sizes, and small files (they load on phone data).
